I tried face jointing a big rough-cut piece of 8x4 ash probably around 5 wide maybe 4 long and it just didn t feel right. In order for a jointer to work properly it s essential for the outfeed and infeed tables to be perfectly parallel or coplaner. If they aren t you can end up with one of a number of problems from tapered cuts to cuts that are concave or convex.
