I am making a bench vise. You can download a PDF plan. It is wonderfully huge and even though sitting on a slick vinyl floor does not move one millimeter when I m hand-planing.
This workbench is made of poplar and uses a large front vise from Lee Valley Tools.

I decided to reuse the wooden forms from that project to make a bench. Easy making this useful tool. This isn t quite true. According to the Getting Started in Woodworking video you can build this bench with only a few basic tools - a drill a circular saw and a hand-held router. My parents wanted a bench to go with the concrete fire pit I made for them.
